Weed Control FAQs

Our weed control experts answer your frequently asked Phoenix weed control questions.

Typically, a pre-emergent weed treatment will keep weeds away for at least six months and often up to a full year before they start to reemerge. The recommended pre-emergent weed treatment plan is twice per year.

Yes, all of the products we use for pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control are immediately safe for pets and children to be near.

Post-emergent weed control will start to show results (wilting and yellowing of the weeds) within hours to days. Depending on the species, growth stage and weather, it could take a week or more for the weeds to fully die off.

With pre-emergent weed control, the barrier starts forming in 1-7 days. While you won’t see any changes to your landscape, you will start to see less weeds emerging and it will stay that way for months.

If weeds come back, so do we. If you notice that weeds are not eliminated or prevented after the time it typically takes to be effective, we will come retreat your yard at no additional cost.

In the greater Phoenix area, we recommend spraying at least twice per year. The ideal schedule is to spray in early spring (February or March) and again in late summer/early fall (August or September). Desert landscaping or rock and dirt areas will need to be sprayed less frequently than lawns to avoid weeds as they don’t receive as much water.

Store-bought formulas are typically pre-mixed, weaker formulas which require more of the product for the same effect. They are also created to address weeds broadly and are not targeted to a specific region, climate or type of weed. Typically store-bought formulas will not last as long and will require more constant spraying.

At Adaptive, we start with extensive knowledge of the types of weeds that are affecting The Valley and look at what specific weeds are on your property. We mix and customize a much more concentrated weed spray that will address the specific needs of your lawn.

Ultimately, it’s highly likely that you will save money using professional weed treatment due to less frequent spraying, displacing the need to constantly buy more product.

We are able to spray your property if you are not home, as long as you provide access to all of the areas that need to be treated (including gate codes or locks). We ask that you please remove any pets from the area that will be sprayed.

Yes, we frequently spray weeds on desert landscaping, dirt and hardscape. The results from weed treatment typically last longer than on a lawn, sometimes requiring only one treatment per year.
